The Hawks have made a trade.

Don’t get excited.

The Hawks traded one of their three second-round picks, No. 44, to the Heat for a 2024 conditional second-round pick and cash considerations Wednesday, one day before the NBA draft.

The Hawks now have five picks at Nos. 8, 10, 17, 35 and 41.

Hawks general manager Travis Schlenk has said on several occasions that the team was unlikely to add five or more rookies to the roster. His intent was to package some of the multiple assets, and that still may be in play. He also indicated that he might draft-and-stash a player or sell one or more of the second-round picks.

The Heat had only one pick in the draft, their own at No. 13, before the deal.
