Hawks pick Tavares scores four in ACB opener

Hawks second-round draft pick Eddy Tavares had four points for Herbalife Gran Canaria in a 70-57 loss to Real Madrid in the Spanish League opener Sunday.

The 7-foot-3 Tavares added four rebounds. The Hawks’ No. 43 overall pick in June will play another season in the ACB League to continue his development.

Gustavo Ayon, who played for the Hawks last season, had 10 points and 13 rebounds for Real Madrid.

Gran Canaria plays again next Sunday against Obradioro.
