Hawks center John Collins was voted to the NBA’s All-Rookie second team, the league announced Tuesday.

Collins, the No. 19 overall selection in the 2017 draft out of Wake Forest, was one off the more efficient and productive rookies in the league while playing 74 games (26 starts). He is the first Hawks player to be selected to the 10-man All-Rookie team since Al Horford was a first-team selection in 2008.

Collins averaged 24.1 minutes, 10.5 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game. Among rookies who played at least 1,000 minutes, Collins ranked second in blocks per game, second in field-goal percentage (57.5) and third in rebounds per game. Collins’ field-goal percentage is the best-ever for a Hawks rookie (minimum 300 field goals made), fourth-best for any Hawks player and fifth-best in NBA history for a rookie.

The All-Rookie team is selected by a vote of 100 sportswriters and broadcasters (the AJC did not participate). Collins received five votes for the first team and 66 for the second team.

Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell Sixers guard Ben Simmons were unanimous selections for the first team.
