The Hawks have assigned Edy Tavares to the NBA Development League, the 10th stint for the rookie center this season. Tavares will play for the Austin Spurs via the flexible assignment rule.
Tavares has played a total of 16 D-League games with the Austin Spurs, Canton Charge and Bakersfield Jam. He has averaged 9.6 points, 9.1 rebounds and 2.6 blocks.
The Austin Spurs next play Tuesday at the Bakersfield Jam at 10 p.m. (ET). The Hawks will be in Utah for a game against the Jazz that day. Following that, the Austin Spurs play games at the Idaho Stampede on Friday and Saturday, both games begin at 9 p.m. (ET).
The Hawks continue to use the D-League as a player development tool. Tavares has appeared in just 11 games with the Hawks this season. The Hawks have settled on a rotation as they enter the stretch run of the regular season.
