The Georgia State basketball program has completed its 2020 signing class with the addition of two guards.
The Panthers signed Evan Johnson of Durham, N.C., and Collin Moore of North Little Rock, Ark. That gives coach Rob Lanier three incoming freshman and a transfer for the fall.
Johnson, a 6-foot-1, 170-pound point guard, played the past three seasons at Oak Hill Academy and was ranked as the state’s No. 14 player by 247Sports. He is an excellent ballhandler, passer and perimeter shooter.
“Evan’s speed and quickness are what really distinguishes him,” Lanier said. “Coming from Oak Hill, he has tremendous experience competing with and against high-level talent.”
Moore is a 6-5, 200-pound guard. He averaged 12 points and six rebounds last season at Sunrise Christian Academy, a post-graduate academy in Bel Aire, Kan. He was a two-time all-state selection at North Little Rock and led the team to a state championship as a junior. A three-star recruit, he was ranked as the No. 5 player in Arkansas by 247Sports.
“His combination of size, skill and athletic ability make him a versatile perimeter player who will give our backcourt quality depth,” Lanier said.
Georgia State signed 6-8 forward Kaleb Scott from Fuquay-Varina, N.C., during the early signing period in November. Ryan Boyce, a 6-6 guard transfer from Memphis, joined the team in January and will be eligible after the fall semester.
Georgia State loses only two seniors from the 2019-20 club that went 19-13 in Lanier’s first season. Four of the top five scorers return, including All-Sun Belt selection Kane Williams.
