Report card

Offense: C-minus

The Hawks scored just 18 second-quarter points, just six more than in the five-minute overtime. It was part of a woeful stretch between the first and second quarters in which they went more than eight minutes without a field goal. The Hawks were better in the second half, shooting 48 percent from the field. Jeff Teague couldn’t get a shot off at the end of regulation. Twice the Hawks had leads but could not hold them. The bench was not good.

Defense: B

The Hawks were on the short end of the physical game early. It took a halftime speech from Millsap to get it turned around. The Hawks threw several defenders at James but he still nearly went for a triple-double. Rebounding was an issue again against the Cavaliers. There were defensive breakdowns when the Hawks held leads, including an alley-oop dunk from Tristan Thompson.
