The Braves plan to promote right-hander Roberto Hernandez from Triple-A Gwinnett to join a starting rotation that's been thinned by injuries and demotions. He will start against the Cardinals on Saturday at Busch Stadium.

Hernandez, 35, has pitched in 268 big-league games with 217 starts while posting a 4.58 ERA. Hernandez was known as Fausto Carmona through the 2011 season.

In 16 starts for Gwinnett Hernandez has a 4.60 ERA with 59 strikeouts and 26 walks over 86 innings. He pitched in 20 games (11 starts) for the Astros in 2015 and posted a 4.36 ERA.
