The Braves lost a Sunday matinee against the Mets 5-1 at SunTrust Park. It cost the Braves the series and guaranteed the team won’t post a winning record in its first season at SunTrust Park.

Notes from the opening series of the Braves’ final homestand of 2017:

1. The Braves were mathematically eliminated from wild card contention on Sunday. They won't participate in the postseason for the fourth consecutive season, their longest draught since 1984-90.

2. A.J. Minter made his 10th career appearance Sunday afternoon. He pitched 1-1/3 innings, striking out three. He's the first Brave since at least 1913 to not issue a walk across his first 10 appearances.

3. Freddie Freeman collected his 140th hit against the Mets since 2011. That’s the most in the majors against New York and 36 more than second-place Ryan Zimmerman.

4. With 46 pinch-hit RBIs, the Braves have an outside chance at passing the perceived team record of 53.

5. Lane Adams' sacrifice fly gave the Braves their only win of the series on Friday. He also knocked in two runs on Saturday night, though his only at-bat Sunday ended with a strikeout. Our David O'Brien presented some facts about the Braves' surprise contributor that you may not know.
