A.J. Minter was born Alex Jordan Minter on Sept. 2, 1993 in Tyler, Texas. Tyler, Texas is the home of college football and NFL superstar Earl Campbell. The Braves drafted Minter in the second round of the 2015 draft (75th overall). Minter played college baseball at Texas A&M. Minter made his major league debut Aug. 23, 2017 against Seattle. Braves reliever A.J. Minter has allowed one earned run this season, entering the game against the Mets on Saturday night.

Minter began the season with a streak of 8-1/3 scoreless innings before the Phillies scored a run against him Wednesday night, when he pitched the ninth inning with a five-run lead. Minter rebounded with a scoreless inning of relief Friday against the Mets.

In 10-1/3 innings this season, Minter has allowed four hits to go with the one run, and he has struck out nine. The one weak area has been his control. Minter has walked seven batters.

Control was not an issue for Minter in his 15 innings of relief last season, when he walked only two batters. In the minors, Minter walked 23 batters in 59 innings.
