A recap of the Braves’ loss to the Miami Marlins on Tuesday at Turner Field.

How the game was won: The Marlins chased new Braves starter Trevor Cahill in the third inning en route to the 8-2 victory. Cahill allowed five hits and four runs while walking three batters in 2 1/3 innings. The Braves scored their runs on back-t0-back homers by Freddie Freeman and A.J. Pierzynski in the fourth inning.

Number: 9.40. Cahill’s ERA in his last seven starts going back to last season, when he was with the Diamondbacks. He pitched fewer than six innings in all of those starts.

Next: The Braves play the Marlins at 12:10 p.m. Wednesday on SportsSouth. Eric Stults (0-0, 5.40 ERA) faces Dan Haren (0-0, 1.50 ERA).
