How the winning run scored: Jim Gallagher scored from third on a bases-loaded double play in the third inning, giving Charlotte a 1-0 lead Friday night against Gwinnett. The lead held for a 2-0 win in a rain-shortened game that was called with one out in the bottom of the eighth.

At the plate: Gallagher was 2-f0r-3 and drove in the game's other run with a two-out single in the eighth. The G-Braves managed four hits, all singles.

On the mound: G-Braves starter Cody Martin (2-1) struck out eight batters in five innings. He allowed one run on five hits and walked four. Charlotte starter Jason Berken (7-8) pitched seven innings and gave up no runs. He allowed four hits and walked four.

Up next for Gwinnett: The G-Braves (37-52) continue their series against the Durham Bulls at 7:05 p.m. Saturday at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville. Gwinnett's scheduled starter is right-hander David Hale (3-3, 3.75 ERA) against righty Merrill Kelly (2-0, 2.63).
