As has been tradition the tradition since 2004, Major League Baseball will pay tribute to Jackie Robinson on April 15.

Robinson broke baseball's color barrier on April 15, 1947, as a first baseman for the Brooklyn Dodgers.

The Atlanta Braves have a scheduled off day on Monday, April 15. The team instead will hold a high school baseball game between two Atlanta Public Schools at SunTrust Park, with both teams wearing Robinson’s Number “42.”

The team will pay tribute to Robinson during two homestands — against the New York Mets (April 12-14) and Arizona Diamondbacks (April 16).

The Braves will host the Jackie Robinson Boys & Girls Club from Cairo, Ga. — Robinson’s birthplace  — during the Mets series. The team will donate all proceeds raised from the 50/50 Raffle on Tuesday, April 16 to the Cairo club.

Robinson's No. 42 was retired across baseball in 1997. Braves and Diamondbacks players will wear Number "42" on April 16. (Last season, the Braves marked Jackie Robinson Day almost a month late.)

Until Jackie Robinson joined the major leagues in 1947, the best African American players - including many Georgians - played in the Negro Leagues.

The Braves also will host their annual Jackie Robinson Invitational, featuring baseball and softball teams, in Atlanta on April 13 and 14.

In addition, the team will unveil a one of a kind life-sized Robinson figurine that will be featured permanently at SunTrust Park.
