Cold and wet weather in Washington, D.C., prompted the Nationals to postpone their game against the Marlins on Saturday and poor conditions could also affect the Braves during their four-game series there starting Monday.

In announcing postponement, the Nationals cited a forecast for wind chills as low as the upper 20s. Snow and rain also fell in the Washington area Saturday morning. The Monday forecast predicts rain and the Tuesday forecast calls for rain and low temperatures in the 30s.

Already, the modified schedule means the Braves will face Nationals ace Max Scherzer for the second time in seven days. Scherzer is scheduled to face the Braves on Monday with two extra day’s rest. He allowed two runs over seven innings during Washington’s 4-3 victory at Turner Field on opening day.

The weather also could play a factor in when Braves center fielder Ender Inciarte returns from a strained left hamstring suffered during Friday’s game against the Cardinals. The Braves likely wouldn’t risk playing Inciarte in cold, wet conditions.
