The Braves activated shortstop Erick Aybar from the disabled list on Sunday and optioned infielder Daniel Castro to Triple-A Gwinnett.

The Braves placed Aybar on the DL after he suffered a right foot bruise on May 28. He was the regular shortstop at the time and was hitting .182 with a .225 on-base percentage. Aybar went 5-for-29 during a seven-game rehabilitation assignment for Gwinnett.

The Braves recalled Castro from Gwinnett during the second week of the season. He was good defensively while playing shortstop (20 games), second base (13) and third base (nine) but was hitting .182 with a .220 on-base percentage.

The Braves have 13 pitchers and 12 position players on the roster.
