The Braves attempted to bolster their bullpen depth Saturday by acquiring right-hander Enrique Burgos from the Diamondbacks in exchange for cash. The team assigned Burgos to Triple-A Gwinnett.

The Diamondbacks recently designated Burgos for assignment after he posted a 6.23 ERA in 11 relief appearances for Triple-A Reno. Burgos, 26, made 73 relief appearances for the Diamondbacks over the past two seasons and had a 5.27 ERA with 82 strikeouts and 38 walks in 68 1/3 innings.

Entering Saturday, Braves relievers had compiled a 4.38 ERA that ranked 21st among the 30 MLB teams. General manager John Coppolella recently said he believes the bullpen has cost the Braves a handful of victories and identified it as a weakness he intends to address.
