Alex Anthopoulos’ fingerprints already on Braves roster

The Braves' 25-man roster as of April 7 includes nine players (36 percent of roster) acquired since Alex Anthopolous became general manager Nov. 13, plus another on the DL. Preston Tucker was acquired Dec. 20 from Astros for a player to be named. Tucker has started all seven games in left field: .435 BA (10-for-23), 2 HRs, 9 RBIs, 2 doubles, slash line of .435/.462/.783. Ryan Flaherty signed as a free agent March 26 after he was released by the Phillies. Flaherty has started all seven games at third base:

The Braves hired Alex Anthopolous as general manager in mid-November, and he has quickly made his mark on the team’s 25-man roster.

Anthopolous notably did not make a major transaction during the offseason, except for the salary-dumping trade with the Dodgers that sent Matt Kemp to Los Angeles and brought Brandon McCarthy, Charlie Culberson, Adrian Gonzalez (designated for assignment soon after as a condition of the trade) and Scott Kazmir (released during spring training) to the Braves.

However, he made enough small moves through the end of spring training that nine of the 25 players on the active roster as of April 7 (plus Josh Ravin, who is on the disabled list) were acquired by Anthopoulos.
