Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield named AP College Football Player of the Year

Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield was named the Associated Press’ College Football Player of the Year.
Mayfield, a finalist for the 2017 Heisman trophy, threw for 4,340 yard, 41 touchdowns and five interceptions this season.
Runners up for the AP College Football Player of the Year were Stanford running back Bryce Love, Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson, Penn State running back Saquon Barlkey and San Diego State running back Rashaad Penny.

Mayfield and No. 2 Oklahoma will face No. 3 Georgia on Jan. 1 at the Rose Bowl for the semifinal of the College Football Playoff.
