Atlanta United centerback Miles Robinson and fullback George Bello were called to the U.S. men’s national team Wednesday for coming World Cup qualifying games.

The U.S. will face Jamaica in Austin, Texas, on Oct. 7, Panama in Panama City, Panama, on Oct. 10, and Costa Rica in Columbus, Ohio, on Oct. 13.

Atlanta United will play Montreal on Saturday and won’t return to action until it plays at Toronto on Oct. 16.

Robinson has 12 appearances for the U.S., most coming this year, during which he helped it win the Gold Cup with a goal in the deciding game against Mexico and go 1-0-2 in its first three 2022 World Cup qualifying games a few weeks ago.

Gregg Berhalter didn’t want to say that Robinson is a lock to start the first game, but he said he is happy with his performances. Berhalter and his staff have been going over video with Robinson and working with him to improve.

“We want him to continue to make progress; we don’t think he’s a finished product,” Berhalter said.

Bello has made four appearances for the U.S., including in the Gold Cup final and in a tough qualifier at Honduras, and Berhalter said he played well.

“I love the fact that George just gets thrown into situations and is able to deal with it,” Berhalter said. “Both (Bello and Robinson) have been in good form with Atlanta. It’s nice to see the resurgence of Atlanta under Gonzalo (Pineda). We hope they continue to perform well.”

Also called up by Berhalter were NYCFC goalkeeper Sean Johnson, a native of Lilburn, and Tenerife fullback Shaq Moore, a native of Powder Springs.
