Atlanta United’s match against New England on March 9 will be the first event on the new artificial turf at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
The turf, a product called FieldTurf Core, previously was replaced in 2019 and 2022.
The installation is ongoing.
Before the installation of the new turf began, an underground ventilation and irrigation system was installed to help grow the grass that will be used in the SheBelieves Cup in April, the two Copa America matches in June and the eight World Cup matches in 2026.
