Atlanta United single-match ticket sales have increased by 177% year-over-year as of March 27, according to Don Rovak, senior vice president of ticket sales and service of AMB Sports and Entertainment.

As a result, tickets are almost sold out for the next three home matches at Mercedes-Benz Stadium through May 13. The schedule includes Saturday’s match against the New York Red Bulls, April 23 against Chicago and May 13 against Charlotte. There are some standing-room-only tickets available. Atlanta United’s season-ticket sales are between 34,000-35,000.

Rovak said that AMBSE theorizes that Atlanta United’s start (3-1-1) and consistent Saturday night starting times, which are a result of the contract between MLS and Apple TV to livestream matches, and people’s comfort with attending live events post-COVID lockdowns are contributing factors in the increased demand.

“To see the momentum right now is pretty cool,” Rovak said.

Atlanta United’s season-tickets sales for 2023 season are Atlanta United leads the league in average attendance (51,001). It has led MLS in average attendance every year since its first season in 2017.

The increased demand may not result in AMBSE, which owns Atlanta United, opening Mercedes-Benz Stadium to full capacity for more games. It is scheduled to open to its full capacity once more this season, Aug. 26 against Nashville. It also was fully open for the season-opening game against San Jose. Rovak said there are discussions to open the stadium for more games, but that isn’t likely to happen.

Rovak said the percentage is low of people who have bought single-game tickets this season and followed by purchasing a five-game pack or joined the wait list for season tickets.

Rovak also said that ticket sales for Atlanta United’s Leagues Cup match against Cruz Azul on July 29 is trending positively. The game will be played at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The kickoff time hasn’t been announced. The stadium will be set up for its soccer-specific configuration, which has a capacity of approximately 42,500.
