After giving up six goals in its previous two games, goalkeeper Brad Guzan said it was important that Atlanta United got a shutout Wednesday. It did just that in Atlanta United's 2-0 win at Cincinnati.

“We pride ourselves on keeping clean sheets,” Guzan said. “We pride ourselves on being tough to beat and the last two results haven’t been good enough for a defensive standpoint. To come out and get a clean sheet was definitely important.”

The shutout was Guzan and Atlanta United’s league-leading 14th this season. Guzan is two away from tying the MLS record of 16 set by Tony Meola in 2000.

Guzan was credited with one save on Wednesday, but made at least two.

The first was key:

“For a goalie and for the backline it’s always nice to get a clean sheet,” manager Frank de Boer said. “It gives you confidence for the next time.”
