3 Atlanta United players on MLS MVP ballot

Three Atlanta United players are among the 53 on the list of possible MVPs in MLS.

Midfielders Miguel Almiron and Hector Villalba and striker Josef Martinez were nominated by Atlanta United.

Players, technical staff on each club and some national and regional reporters will vote on the winner. The voting starts Tuesday and ends Oct. 23. The winner will be announced Oct. 31.

Almiron has nine goals and 13 assists. Villalba has 13 goals and 10 assists. Martinez has 18 goals in 15 games. All three are Atlanta United’s Designated Players.

The Five Stripes are in third place in the MLS East. They will play at New York Red Bulls on Sunday.
