Atlanta United striker Josef Martinez was named the MLS player of the week on Tuesday after scoring six goals last week.

Martinez notched back-to-back hat-tricks in a 7-0 win against New England and 3-3 draw with Orlando City.

It was the second time this season that Martinez was named the MLS player of the week, and the second time this season an Atlanta United player has won the award twice. Miguel Almiron is also a two-time winner.

Martinez has 16 goals in 14 games this season. He trails league-leader David Villa by three goals despite playing less than half the minutes.

Atlanta United (12-8-7) will host the Los Angeles Galaxy (7-15-6) on Wednesday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
