Atlanta’s horse in Saturday’s Kentucky Derby will get a jump from the inside.

Tax, a 3-year-old dark bay gelding, will start from the second position. Seven horses have won the Derby from the No. 2 post, including 1978 Triple Crown winner Affirmed.

For the second time in eight years, Suwanee's Dean and Patti Reeves are back as part-owners of a Derby horse.

A second derby runner, Plus Que Parfait, was bred at Calloway Stables, owned by Atlanta’s Tyler Alexander. Plus Que Parfait will start from the middle in the 9 spot.

Race favorite Omaha Beach was set to start from post No. 12, but withdrew Wednesday due to a medical issue. Game Winner, at 4-to-1 odds, is the new favorite. The favorite has won the last six “Run for the Roses.”

The winner of the 1-1/4 miles race will take $1.86 million of the $3 million purse. Second place takes $600,000 and third place trots off with $300,000.
