FLOWERY BRANCH — Running back Damien Williams, guard Jalen Mayfield and defensive tackle Marlon Davidson, who are eligible to return from injured reserve, will stay on the list, according to Falcons coach Arthur Smith.
Falcons cornerback Isaiah Oliver (knee), who returned Oct. 5 to start his 21-day practice period, will continue to work his way back from knee surgery after a stint on injured reserve.
“Nobody (from injured reserve) will be practicing,” Smith said Wednesday. “Isaiah is still practicing. He started practicing last week.”
Williams suffered a rib injury in the season opener. Mayfield (back) and Davidson (knee surgery) were injured in the exhibition season.
Oliver is close to returning, as the Falcons created an open spot on the 53-man roster by cutting nose tackle Anthony Rush last week.
“He looked pretty good,” Smith said of Oliver. “We’ll see how this week goes. With what the plan was, he wasn’t going to be a part of the 48 (game-day roster), so we didn’t go ahead and take him off (the designated-to-return list).”
Other players on injured reserve include long snapper Beau Brinkley (Achilles), tight end John FitzPatrick, running back Cordarrelle Patterson (knee) and nose tackle Vincent Taylor (Achilles).
The earliest Patterson could return would be for the Nov. 6 game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Former Falcons linebacker Deion Jones, who was on injured reserved before being traded, was designated for return in Cleveland.
