Falcons wide receiver Calvin Ridley was declared inactive for Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Ridley missed the game against the Jets in London on Oct. 10 because of a personal matter. He played last week against Miami and practiced all week.

He’s again dealing with another personal matter, according to the team.

Tajae Sharpe will start for Ridley, who has 31 catches for 281 yards and two touchdowns.

The official inactives are Ridley, running back Wayne Gallman, linebacker Dorian Etheridge, defensive tackle Ta’Quon Graham, defensive tackle John Cominsky and left guard Josh Andrews.

Ridley tweeted a statement during the fourth quarter of the game, saying he needed to step away from football to focus on his mental well-being.

Cornerback Stephon Gilmore, a four-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro selection, was activated by the Panthers on Saturday and is set to play.

Gilmore, who was acquired in a trade with the Patriots, was on the physically-unable-to-perform list while rehabbing from a quadriceps injury. He has not played since December and started to practice the week before the Panthers faced the Giants on Sunday.

Falcons cornerbacks A.J. Terrell (concussion) and Avery Williams (hamstring) were cleared to play.

Falcons special-teamer Daren Bates and outside linebacker James Vaughters were promoted to the active roster Saturday.
