FLOWERY BRANCH -- Quarterback Matt Ryan, who led the Falcons to a stunning 27-25 victory over the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, was named the NFC’s offensive player of the week for Week 9.

“Those kind of things are always nice,” Ryan said. “They come after wins, which is ultimately what’s important. Hopefully, we can keep that going for us moving forward.”

Ryan completed 23 of 30 passes (76.7 percent) for 343 yards and two touchdowns, and he ran for another score. He finished with a passer rating of 135.8.

After the Falcons blew an 18-point fourth-quarter lead, Ryan connected with wide receiver/running back Cordarrelle Patterson on a 64-yard pass that eventually set up Younghoe Koo’s game-winning field goal.

It was Ryan’s 41st game-winning drive and 33rd fourth-quarter comeback. Ryan’s performance came a week after one of the worst performances of his career against the Panthers (67.8 passer rating and two drive-killing interceptions).

This was Ryan’s 10th NFC offensive player of the week honor, the most in franchise history.
