FLOWERY BRANCH — The Falcons dodged a serious situation in the secondary as their top three cornerbacks, who have been injured, were at practice Wednesday.
Right cornerback A.J. Terrell (concussion) was limited, left cornerback Fabian Moreau (neck) and nickel back Avery Williams (hamstring) were full participants.
Terrell and Moreau were injured against the Dolphins on Sunday. Williams missed the past two games. Moreau was not listed on the official injury report.
Also, safety Erik Harris (shoulder) was at practice.
The Falcons were worried about their cornerback depth and signed Luther Kirk from Minnesota’s practice squad and released T.J. Green on Monday.
Falcons coach Arthur Smith didn’t want to agree with the notion that the secondary was “banged up.”
“We’ll see as the week goes along,” Smith said. “I wouldn’t use the word ‘banged up.’ Everybody right now in the National Football League is a little nicked up. It’s a tough sport.”
The Falcons did not work in pads.
“We assess it, and like I said, we take every precaution necessary, and we take it very serious, but we feel pretty good about where we’re at health-wise,” Smith said. “Take it all into account. That’s why you have meetings - yeah, we feel pretty good about where we’re at.”
