LONDON -- Falcons activated cornerback Kendall Sheffield, who has played the nickel back position, from injured reserve Saturday.

The Falcons (1-3) are set to play the New York Jets (1-3) at 9:30 a.m. EDT Sunday at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The Falcons are hurting in the secondary, with two starters and the top reserve expected to miss the game.

Nickel back Isaiah Oliver (knee) is on injured reserve. Free safety Erik Harris (calf) and backup nickel back Avery Williams (hamstring) are listed as doubtful for the game.

Sheffield had 46 tackles, three pass breakups and a forced fumble in 2019 while mostly playing nickel back. Last season, he had 51 tackles, three pass breakups and a forced fumble while trying to move outside to right cornerback. He does not have an interception over 29 games and 20 starts.

He played 700 defensive snaps (67%) in 2019 and played 525 defensive snaps (49%) in 2020.

The Falcons are also hurting at wide receiver, with Calvin Ridley out for personal reasons and Russell Gage out with an ankle injury. They also promoted wide receiver Juwan Green and cornerback Chris Williamson from the practice squad.

The Falcons released tight end Parker Hesse.
