The Braves released Matt Adams, the team announced Thursday. The move comes after the Braves designated Adams for assignment Sunday to make room for newly acquired left-handed pitcher Tommy Milone, obtained in a trade with the Orioles.

Adams hit .184 with two homers and nine RBIs in 16 games this season.
