The Atlanta Blaze franchise in Major League Lacrosse will not operate for the 2020 season, the league announced Sunday.

Major League Lacrosse will maintain the Blaze marks and colors for a return to the Atlanta market, the statement noted.

In 2019, the Blaze advanced to the MLL semifinals, their best season. Alex Woodall won the Rookie of the Year and Liam Byrnes won Defensive Player of the Year awards. The team played their home games in 2019 at Grady Stadium in Midtown.
