D'Andre Bell has been cleared by his doctor to return for his senior season, Georgia Tech men's basketball coach Paul Hewitt said Tuesday.

Bell, a 6-foot-6 guard who averaged 6.6 points and 2.1 rebounds during the 2007-08 season, had surgery to correct a spinal condition and took a redshirt last season.

"I'm an optimistic person, and I am huge on speaking things into existence," Bell said in a statement. "Though negative thoughts may have crossed my mind at times, I never uttered that I would never play again, and the end result is a second chance."
