Photos: Falcons-Saints, the rivalry continues

A look at the recent history between the NFL franchises.

The Falcons play their biggest rival, the New Orleans Saints, Sunday at 1 p.m. at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

The Falcons came into the NFL in 1966 and the Saints joined in 1967 and they immediately became regional rivals. The Falcons' Steve Bartkowski dodges the Saints' pass rush in this 1975 game.

Bartkowski is one of many great quarterbacks who have played in this series, including Drew Brees and Matt Ryan (above).

Falcons' quarterback Michael Vick leaps into the end zone against the Saints in 2005.

There's been some no-so-great quarterbacks too, like Logan Woodside (above).

And Feleipe Franks, who is hit hard by New Orleans Saints middle linebacker Kwon Alexander in 2021.

The teams have played a whopping 110 times. series is tied 55–55.

The series is always hard-hitting.

The fans on both sides are rabid and they are just as loud when they travel to the other team's stadium.

Saints fans show their passion, and disdain for the Falcons, in this 2019 game in Atlanta.

The Saints won the last matchup on January 7, 2024. True to the rivalry, the Saints scored a late touchdown to run up the score in a 41-17 victory. Falcons head coach Arthur Smith (right) was not happy.
