News media from around the globe were already cramming into Herschel Walker’s election night party late Tuesday afternoon.
So many reporters had sought credentials to the event at the Omni Hotel at the Battery that many were relegated to an overflow area on an outdoor balcony a level above the ballroom.
As the U.S. Senate campaign entered its final weeks, Walker’s camp has been besieged by media requests from as far away as South Korea, Australia, Mexico and Germany.
The race for governor is the undercard, with far less of a media frenzy than the mayhem.
Even so, there has still been plenty of attention on the contest between Gov. Brian Kemp and Stacey Abrams. Dozens of reporters covered each of Kemp’s stops in a statewide fly-around on Monday. Each of Abrams’ final stops also drew crews of journalists.
And nearly 100 reporters, broadcasters and producers filed into the Coca-Cola Roxy five hours before the polls close to prepare to document Kemp’s party.
