February 11, 2019 Atlanta: Becca Kiriazes scoots along 7th Street at Peachtree Street in the fog Monday morning, Feb. 11, 2019 which brought fog and drizzle across metro Atlanta that was influenced by a wedge of cool air that settled in over the weekend and had visibility drop to a quarter-mile. Another front is on its way to usher in some change, but Channel 2 meteorologist Karen Minton said it wonÃt fully break down the wedge until Tuesday.â Temps should pop back up to near 70 degrees Tuesday afternoon, according to Channel 2.â On Tuesday, there is a chance of some heavier rain as a cold front moves through the state, Channel 2 meteorologist Brian Monahan said. A half-inch is possible across North Georgia. Ã¬That cold front is going to come through just after the morning commute (Tuesday),Ã® he said.â Ã¬I think the morning commute will not be too tough tomorrow, itÃs going to be late morning and early afternoon.Ã® There is a moderate risk of some stronger wind gusts, and as for isolated storms, Monahan said there is aâ Ã¬low risk but not a Ã«no risk.ÃÃ® There is a 100 percent chance of rain Tuesday, but it should clear out by the afternoon, he said. It is the policy of the AJC to not name alleged victims of sexual crimes, but in this case the victim chose to publicly discuss the incident. The woman whose alleged sexual assault inside a popular Midtown nightclub was seen on Facebook has filed a lawsuit, claiming the club did not have adequate security the night of the attack. On Tuesday, the victim's attorneys alleged Opera nightclub failed to monitor certain areas of the club during the Jan. 19 sexual assault. The victim had been celebrating her birthday at the time and was already streaming on Facebook Live when she was attacked. The woman spoke for the first time publicly at a Tuesday morning press conference. It is the policy of the AJC to not name alleged victims of sexual crimes, but in this case the victim chose to publicly discuss the incident. Atlanta police received calls from people who had seen the assault and an investigation was opened. According to police, the video showed the woman on the dance floor while an unidentified man assaulted her. The woman can be heard screaming for the man to stop and calling for help. Atlanta police contacted the man identified in the video but did not immediately make an arrest. Dominique Williams, 34, turned himself in to authorities on Jan. 29 in connection with the sexual assault. He faces an aggravated sodomy charge. JOHN SPINK/JSPINK@AJC.COM

In 1963, after a peaceful civil rights march in Americus, 15 girls ages 12-15 were arrested and taken to Leesburg where they were illegally held in a concrete stockade for more than two months. Their parents did not learn of the horrible conditions they faced until photos taken by a SNCC photographer appeared in the black press. The girls were released days later but never spoke of their ordeal until 2015. Led by Dr. Shirley Green- Reese, the nine living Leesburg women collectively broke their silence. The explosion occurred at a tractor-trailer repair factory in the 4300 block of Old McDonough Road,â DeKalb County Fire Rescue spokesmanâ Dion Bentley said from the scene. Initially, officials said the fire started after the semitrailer crashed into the building. Investigators later determined Ã¬the injuries were suffered when the patient was working on a trailer, cutting and welding on one of these tractor-trailers you see right there,Ã® Bentley said. The victim suffered burns from the waist up, he said. Bentley said people on the scene heard a large boom before the fire, which remains under investigation. February 15, 2019 DeKalb County:
Some building tenants gathered on Friday, Feb. 15, 2019 to greet clients outside The Kensington office park building that burned on Thursday. Firefighters battled the blaze at the office complex in DeKalb County on Thursday afternoon, authorities said. DeKalb County Fire Capt. Dion Bentley told AJC the building was evacuated and no one was hurt. The Kensington office park, which is located at 4151 Memorial Drive at the intersection of Covington Highway near Avondale Estates, was built in 1974. Bentley said the complexâÃÃ´s metal roof acted like a shield, making it difficult for firefighters to spray water on top of the fire. He also said it was too dangerous for firefighters to enter the building at first. âÃÃºThe metal roof is making it rough, and itâÃÃ´s acting like an umbrella,âÃÃ¹ he said earlier. âÃÃºItâÃÃ´s an ugly, nasty fire.âÃÃ¹ Crews have since put out most of the large flames and been able to enter the building to finish extinguishing hot spots. The cause of the fire is unknown, but it started on the second floor, Channel 2 Action News reported. The building is totaled, destroying many tenantsâÃÃ´ businesses.
