The Bryan County Board of Elections and Registration will utilize a mobile polling unit for voters in Precinct 2 for Tuesday's primary and nonpartisan general election. The precinct's usual polling location, Hendrix Park Gym, was destroyed by a deadly tornado that touched down in the area on April 5.

The mobile polling unit is located next to the Bryan County Recreation Department on 3960 Wilma Edwards Road. The polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger visited the location Friday. He said the approximate 2,000 registered voters in the precinct can rest assured that the facility will be "reliable" for voters as the team will utilize the same machines, all of which have been tested, according to Raffensperger.

“It’s the same equipment that is used in the election building,” said Raffensperger. “We have the same scanners and everything else. We’ve checked and tested it out. It’s safe and secure.”

He added how important the unit is for voters in the area that have been impacted by the storm.

“It is really just allowing us to process voters for this section of Bryan County,” said Raffensperger. “We are really grateful that we have this equipment. We are expecting a great turnout here in Bryan County despite the devastation we have seen. We are glad to do our small part. I know other counties have helped out. It’s great when the community comes together.”
