A man has been arrested in connection with the Feb. 18 shooting at a Columbus motel that left three people dead and a four-year-old injured, according to police.

The Columbus Police Department has announced that Jerimiah Walker was arrested Thursday in Memphis, Tennessee by U.S. Marshals. Walker is suspected of shooting and killing the three victims.

Reporting done by the Ledger-Enquirer shows that CPD was called to the Motel 6 on Victory Drive shortly after 9 p.m. that night. Michael Carter Sr., 54, and Michael Carter Jr., 19, were pronounced dead at the scene by Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan.

Tonya Carter was taken to Piedmont Columbus Regional where she later passed away on March 4. The child has since been released from the hospital, according to police.

Walker is being charged with three counts of murder and two counts of aggravated assault, officials say. Investigators in CPD’s Violent Crimes Unit are currently in the process of extraditing Walker to Columbus.

Police say a court hearing will be scheduled at a later time.
