Georgia is quite the business hub. You can find a variety of jobs throughout the state, but which one pays the most?
To find out, Business Insider sifted through the US Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Occupational Employment and Wage Estimate to figure out the top-paying jobs for every state in America and Washington DC.
For Georgia, surgeons came out on top. They found that they make an average annual pay of $271,000.
Overall, doctors dominated the entire list. Anesthesiology was the highest-paying field in 17 states, while surgeons were No. 1 in 16 states.
As for other states in the South, orthodontists were No. 1 in Alabama and general pediatricians were No. 1 in Mississippi and Arkansas.
Not interesting in being a doctor? There are also some gigs in the nursing industry with high annual incomes.
Nurse anesthetists rake in about $121,000, nurse practitioners make about $103,000 and nurse midwives bring in about $97,000.
