Work has started on Forsyth County’s new 13,700-square foot animal shelter on County Way near GA 400. Funded by the voter-approved Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax VII, the new shelter will replace the current arrangement in which the county contracts out shelter operations.

The new shelter is slated for completion in early 2014 and is expected to cost $3 million.
