A 25-year-old woman was struck and killed by an SUV as she tried to cross the street after attending the Shaky Boots music festival in Cobb County, police said Sunday.
Chelsea A. Tucker, of Lizella, and three others were attempting to walk across Busbee Parkway shortly after midnight when Tucker stepped in front of a Toyota 4Runner, according to Officer Alicia Chilton with Cobb police. All four had attended the music festival, held at a Kennesaw State University stadium located on Busbee Parkway.
Investigators believe Jordan D. Padgett, 24, of Woodstock, was driving southbound on Busbee Parkway, south of Chastain Road, when he struck Tucker, Chilton said. Padgett was not injured, but Tucker died at the scene, according to police.
Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the collision, which remains under investigation, Chilton said. The spokeswoman did not specify that Tucker was believed to be intoxicated, but said no charges were expected to be filed in the crash.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 770-499-3987.
Tucker was a dental assistant in Macon, according to her Facebook page. Lizella is located about 20 minutes west of Macon.
The two-day Shaky Boots festival continued Sunday at Fifth Third Bank Stadium.
