Marietta police Tuesday were investigating an overnight accident on a Cobb County interstate ramp that seriously injured a woman who had gotten out of her disabled vehicle.
The incident happened on the ramp from I-75 southbound to the Canton Road Connector.
“The initial on-scene investigation revealed that a 2001 Ford Focus was traveling south on the exit ramp as the pedestrian was attempting to cross the exit ramp,” Marietta police spokesman Nick Serkedakis said in an email. “The pedestrian was attempting to return to her vehicle, which was stopped on the shoulder for mechanical problems.”
The Focus hit the woman, causing serious injuries, Serkedakis said. She was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital and was in stable condition, he said.
The crash remains under investigation.
