That makes Chihuahuas the breed that ends up in their kennels the most.

"We compared the number of calls we got in 2013 from that area to similar areas in town, and the calls from Maryvale were three times higher than surrounding areas," Melissa Gable told ABC 15 in Phoenix.

“Part of it is these animals aren’t spayed or neutered, so they’re out looking for a mate and are having babies, which also contributes to the problem,” she continued.

Another problem is what to do once they round up the little critters.

Most of the cities rescue facilities can’t take any new dogs because of overcrowding there and in their foster homes.

However, residents want something done. They say packs of 8-12 of the hounds have been chasing their kids on the way to school.

Officials are still working on a plan to deal with the dogs.

And no, making a run for the border isn’t one of them.
