However, when all two dozen Wikipedia languages were factored in the number-one spot went to Adolph Hitler.

In that ranking Michael Jackson was once again second and Madonna came in third.

"Our analysis shows that most important historical figures across Wikipedia language editions are born in western countries after the 17th century, and are male," authors told The Guardian.

A similar study was performed last year. That work named Karl Marx as the world's most important scholar.
