Another day of sunshine and springlike conditions is in the forecast Wednesday.
Atlanta reached a high of 71 degrees under near total sunshine Tuesday, the warmest day since Thanksgiving. It was the first 70-degree day this winter.
The city should get another one Wednesday, according to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan.
“Seventy-one, if that wasn’t warm enough for you, we’re up to 72 today,” he said.
It’s not a record high for this date, which was set in 2018 at 80 degrees. Monahan said the mild temperatures, sunshine and dry conditions will all contribute to “beautiful spring weather” Wednesday afternoon.
A cold front moving in overnight will stall down in Middle Georgia and could bring an isolated sprinkle early Thursday, he said.
“It’s going to give us some clouds tomorrow,” Monahan said. “A little cooler, but still a pretty nice Thursday. We’re going to be in the 60s for highs tomorrow.”
The sunny streak ends Thursday.
“Through the day on Friday, we’re going to see wet weather develop,” Monahan said. “Especially in the mountains and northern metro, some rain (will be) heavy at times for your Friday.”
The showers will also contribute to a big range in temperature Friday, he said. Areas that get wet could see highs in the 40s, while those that remain dry on the Southside will stay in the springtime with highs near 70, according to Channel 2.
Atlanta’s projected high is 52 degrees Friday, about seven degrees below average for this time of year.

With dry pavement, the Wednesday morning drive is off to a smooth start. There are no major delays on any interstates at 6 a.m., according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.
In Midtown Atlanta, it’s a bit of a mixed bag. Authorities have reopened 17th Street after repairs to a broken water main were completed Tuesday. But West Peachtree Street remains closed Wednesday while crews work to remove a malfunctioned crane at a 31-story office tower.
The road could be closed between 11th and 14th streets all week.
Northside Drive, Piedmont Road, Peachtree Street or the Downtown Connector are all good alternates to get around the closure, according to the Traffic Center.
