A video of two Forsyth County deputies rescuing a trapped buck is literally worth fawning over.

The deputies, identified as Sgt. B. Moore and Deputy First Class Carl Welch, pried a fence apart in order to free the buck, according to a Facebook post from the Forsyth sheriff’s office.

Body camera footage captured the rescue, which happened Sunday in the Villages at Shakerag subdivision. The buck, which the deputies refer to as Bucky, appears to have gotten a foot caught in the fence while trying to leap over it.

“You got yourself in an old pickle,” Moore says in the video.

Moore is shown hitting the bars of the fence in an attempt to free the buck’s leg, while Welch holds the animal still. The deputies can be heard soothing the deer throughout the rescue.

“Hang on, buddy. We’re going to get you out there,” Moore says. “Don’t kick me, old boy.”

The deputy is shown pulling a final bar, and the buck kicks its leg free and sprints off. The deputies try to follow it to see if it’s OK, but Bucky is nowhere to be found.

“I think old Bucky’s gone, Welch,” Moore says.
