When Senta Evans, of Palm Beach Gardens, went to let her dogs out into her backyard Monday morning, she noticed something in her pool. It was an 8-foot, 300-pound alligator, WPEC reported.

Evans took some photographs and then called the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, which sent a trapper to retrieve the gator, the television station reported.

Vanessa Schultz told WPTV she was walking her children to the bus stop around 7:15 a.m. when she heard about the large reptile.

"It was big, really big," said Schultz, who captured images of the alligator. "I was totally in panic. When I saw the alligator I was scared."
