Two women are in custody and being questioned after a stabbing Wednesday morning at a motel near Norcross.

Gwinnett police Cpl. Michele Pihera said the incident happened about 7:15 a.m. at the Rite 4 Us Inn & Suites in the 5800 block of Oakbrook Parkway.

Pihera said in an email that the victim, whose name was not immediately released, was alert and conscious after being stabbed in the neck.

Earlier reports from Channel 2 Action News indicated the victim was a motel clerk, but Pihera said shortly after 9 a.m. that the stabbing happened in a guest room and the victim went to the front office to seek help from a motel employee.

The victim was in surgery at a local hospital, Pihera said.

The unidentified women in custody came from the man’s room, according to Channel 2.

Police have not released a motive for the stabbing.
