Two children were killed Saturday during a storm in east Texas when a tree fell on top of the vehicle they were riding in, KYTX reported.

In Lufkin, the children, ages 8 and 3, died after being trapped in the back seat of the car, the television station reported. Capt. Alton Lenderman of the Angelina County Sheriff's Office said the parents of the children, who were in the front seats, were not injured, KTRK reported.

Central Elementary School Principal Anita Byrd identified the 8-year-old as second-grader Dilynn Creel in a social media post to the Central Elementary Facebook page.

Storms also caused at least one death in Houston County, KHOU reported. Details were not immediately available, the television station reported.

In Cherokee County, at least 25 people were injured at Caddo Mounds State Historic Site, according to KHOU.
