Sunshine and warm weather persist Tuesday across North Georgia.

There is no rain in the forecast all the way through Thursday evening, according to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist. The favorable conditions are perfect for getting out of the house and enjoying outdoor activities.

“It’s going to feel more like mid- to late May this afternoon,” Monahan said. “We’re up to 82 degrees. Beautiful weather today, with a partly cloudy sky in the forecast for the afternoon.”

Tuesday is starting out mild with morning lows in the upper 50s. Wednesday will be yet another mild start with temperatures in the lower 60s, and “in between, we get a nice afternoon today,” Monahan said.

With the warmer weather, pollen levels are starting to come up, but Monahan said North Georgia is already past the peak of pollen season. Monday’s count was in the high range at 517 pollen particles per cubic meter of air, according to Atlanta Allergy and Asthma, the organization that tracks the daily pollen count.

Trees like oak and pine are still the top contributors to the count, but grass pollen is also in the high range, and mold activity is extremely high, according to the organization. Monahan said pollen numbers won’t really start to fall until late May, but periods of rain should keep levels at bay until then.

North Georgia won’t get its next round of rain until Friday, he said.

“All the way through Thursday, we’ll stay dry,” he said. “We’ll see the humidity come up a bit on Thursday, but it will stay dry across North Georgia. Friday we will not be dry.”

Monahan is predicting a 60% chance of rain and storms on Friday with an inch of accumulation possible in some areas. Things should dry out by the weekend, with temperatures in the low 70s and sunshine in the forecast for Saturday, according to Channel 2.

Weather may not be a concern Tuesday, but the morning drive is already getting crowded. There are extra delays out of Cobb County on Tuesday morning after a crash scattered debris on I-75, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.

The crash was blocking multiple southbound lanes before Delk Road at 6:30 a.m., the Traffic Center reported. Commuters can use Cobb Parkway or the express lanes to avoid the growing backups.
