Eastbound lanes of I-20 in DeKalb County were reopened Wednesday afternoon after a large amount of paint spilled onto the interstate.

DeKalb police Capt. S.R. Fore said a truck was pulling a trailer loaded with 55-gallon drums of paint when two of the drums fell off near Wesley Chapel Road, prompting officials to shut down the eastbound lanes and divert traffic onto the Wesley Chapel Road exit and back onto I-20.

“Paint is spilled across I-20,” Fore said just after 11:30 a.m.

The driver of the truck stopped, and was charged with failure to secure load. The driver’s name was not released.

Just before 12:20 p.m., all eastbound lanes were reopened, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.
